Depth at CB

Since the Saints signed CB Aaron Glenn and CB Randell Gay, do they need to address a CB in the draft? With the rumor that the Saints could trade their 10th pick with the Eagles for their 19th and get CB Lito Shepard in the air, should they pick another CB? Right now, as it stands, the Saints have McKenzie, Mike; Young, Usama; Gay, Randall; Craft, Jason; Phillips, Anwar; David, Jason; Glenn, Aaron on the depth chart. I do beleive that if the Saints do that trade with Philly, than they will have so much competion that they will improve the pass protection this year. You know, if they can improve their def. just a little, than they will be in the playffs. If they have a top ten def. than they will be in the Super Bowl...

What do you think??

Getting close to Draft day

It's only 5 days till the draft and the rumors are running wild. I personally like a few of them. One is that the Saints will rade 1st rounders with Philly and the Saints will aquire Lito Shepard. The other rumor is that the Saints will trade their second round pick to the Giants for Jeramy Shockey. Now I really like these ideas. It would give the Saints 3 new starters on the first day of the draft. With their new pick at #19, they could pick DT Kentwan Balmer or LB Jerod Mayo. After all that, in the third round and later the Saints could add depth and wants like maybe WR Jordy Nelson, CB Charles Godfrey, S Craig Steltz, C John Sullivan, QB Erik Ainge.

What does eveyone think????

This years draft class is deep in nearly all pos. It will be interesting. Philly, and Indy wil get 11 picks this year so watch for for lots of trades.

No more cheating!!!!!

Its offical, the NFL has finally came to their sinces. They are alowing one defenceive player to have a headset so he could get the play called in to him. This is great, so there will be no more of these fake 16-0 records. If you cheat, you can't claim to be the best NFL team.

Draft Options

The Saints are finally in a position this year do take any player they really want or trade down.

Personally, I would trade down in the draft and pick up addtional picks. Say trade down to the 15th to 20th spot and aquire an addtional 2nd rounder or a 3rd rounder plus a quality player. IE trade with 1st rounders with Philly and get an extra 3rd rounder plus Lito Shepard. It's just a thought.

I would really like to see the Saints trade down in the first round so the don't have to pay top ten money, than draft Cramartie. If they trade down and get addtional picks, than they could capitalize on the quality players later in the draft IE Craig Steltz, Deven Hester, Chelves Jackson, Ali Highsmith, and the list goes on. If they could get two second rounders they could look at Curtis Lofton LB from Oklahoma, and Pat Sims DT from Auburn then look to bloster the Offence in the 3rd round. Maybe look at Mike Hart RB from Michigan or Marcus Monk WR from Arkansas.

I have three players that Payton and Micky hopefully look at really hard.
1) Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB
2) Craig Steltz S
3) Dexter Jackson WR/KR
The first one is obvious. So, on tape, Craig looks so much like John Lynch and Jackson is so fast, he can be the next Hester only he will put points on the scorebord for the Saints instead aginst.

Moves so far this year

The Saints have made some really great moves so far this year. With them signing Vilma, Gay, McCray, Morgan, and resigning all but Faine; the Saints have built the best team ever in New Orleans. With Dan Morgan playing weak side LB, he may stay healty for the entire season due to he doesn't have the entire load on his sholders. If nothing else, he will teach Scott a thing or two. Johnathan Vilma is back in the defence that he was built to play. Before the Jets went to the 3-4 defence, he was making 140+ stops. We all know how good Fujita is. And this is just our linebackers. Does anyone remember the DOME PATROL.
The defensive line speaks for itself. With Smith and Grant, the best DE combo in the NFL, what can you say. Payton went out and signed McCray, which is going to do so much for the line. A) It adds quality depth, B) the Saints could move Grant over to DT and play him on top of a guard (a match up that he wil win evey time). Yes Thomas is 33 this year an Young anin't so young anymore either. But they are still quality players.
Now the secondary, thats a mouthful! McKenzie is out for the first four weeks of the season due to his injury. They did sign Gay, witch in SOME games he reminds you of a younger Samual. David will be better after a season learning how to play man coverage. Remember, in Indy he played zone. Young is in his second season and will make strides to compete for a starting spot. Harper was really good last season, if he can improve on that WATCH OUT. Bullocks is good at times, but he likes to play solo the rest of the time. Payton is watching tapes and taking note for the Spring. Josh will be forced into being a team player or he may be looking for a new job soon. Don't get me wrong, in times, he can make plays happen. He does have good hands.
Offence in the top 3 for the last two seasons. If Meachem comes out this year and plays like he says he will than the Saints will have the #1 Offence in the NFL. There are only a few questions for the offence. A) C, is Goodwin relieyable enouph to anchor the line? B) A consitant TE, someone to step up and make plays happen or just not drop the ball. C) Yes, Bush, did him and Bress get on the same page this offseason? After several plays last year, Bress was teaching Bush the playbook.
